How to Layer and Pattern Mix
I’m here to teach you all about the art of layering and pattern mixing. Winter is a great time to have fun with layers and patterns while being comfortable, warm, and stylish. Here are some outfits that I threw together to show how easy it can be!
Outfit #1:
One word. Chambray. A good button down jean shirt is your closet’s best friend! You can mix and match and dress up or down a chambray like nobody’s business. You can pair a chambray shirt with any sweater, add a fun statement necklace, and voila! You have a stylish layered outfit in a jiffy.
Outfit #2:
Don’t be afraid to mix two or more patterns in an outfit. Polka dots and stripes are a versatile and easy way to mix patterns without going over the top. If you are hesitant in looking like a kindergarten art project, then stay simple and just mix two patterns at first and stay with a simple color scheme. Also, don’t be timid in layering jewelry. You can make your outfit pop with a collection of fun necklaces.
Outfit #3:
When layering, make use of your other favorite seasonal pieces. Take a short sleeve sweater and wear it on top of a collared shirt. Make the most bang for your buck and be creative. If you’re feeling really gutsy, mix three patterns….gingham, stripes, and leopard oh my!
Outfit #4:
You all know that sweatshirts are on trend this season, so a great way to dress them up is to pair it with a collared shirt. To be doubly on trend, why not style it with plaid while you’re at it?! When pattern mixing, you don’t need to only focus on your top half, but can mix it up with patterned jeans too.
Outfit #5:
Leopard is a great neutral. What you say?? Leopard can really go with almost anything. Take a leopard scarf, add it to a stripe shirt, and since you’re a layering pro, add a jean vest and you’re good to go.
Layering and pattern mixing should be fun. Work with it and be creative. Let your outfits reflect your personality and you will always look good if you feel confident in what you’re wearing. Happy styling!
