Spring Fashion with Jo, Michelle Gifford Photography

in Fashion on 05/22/14

Jo is back with some spring makeup trends.  What a relief to find that my bushy eyebrows are officially on trend, as they say.  Where was this trend when I was in jr. high?  Hmmm.  Maybe I was the one that started the trend circa 1999.  Yep, totally.  Nailed it.  Now take it away Jo.

Spring Makeup Trends

With the dawn of a new season, everyone is looking for a fresh start. There’s nothing fresher than sprucing up your beauty routine! The nice thing about beauty trends is that it’s inexpensive and such an easy way experiment with trends. Here are some great ways to stay on trend in beauty and not break the bank while doing it.

Orange Lips- I know…bold right?! But oh so fun! Orange lips are this year’s biggest beauty trend. If you’re too timid to try a bold pigmented lip, opt for an orange gloss. But, either way…jump on the bandwagon and give it a shot!  Find it here.

Nails- Nails are such an easy and budget friendly way to stay on trend from season to season, without feeling like you’re going too much out on a limb while doing it. Great colors for this season are pastels, nudes, sheers, or metallics.  Find the above here.

Purple or blue shadow- Blue and purple eye shadow is a more daring beauty trend. But, don’t be hesitant in testing it out. If you want a bolder and more pigmented eye color, wet your eye shadow brush to help intensify the shade. If you shy away from bold eyes but still want to give the trend a try, then just apply a small amount of shadow on the lid with a dry brush. Be brave and try it out!  Find the above shadow here.
Golden Glow- the natural dewy look is hot this season. If color frightens you, this is your ticket to stay on trend in beauty. To achieve a golden glow, use golden tone eye shadows, a natural bronzer, and a highlighter on your cheek bones and brow bones. For a more natural look, forgo the bold eyeliner and just stick with mascara.  For eyes click here, cheeks click here, highlighter click here.

Boyish Brows- Thicker brows are making a comeback. Just because they’re bigger, doesn’t mean that you should keep them unruly and untamed.  To ensure some femininity, keep them combed, trimmed, and filled in with pencil or shadow to give it a classy look.

*Fun tip: if you buy a lip or eye color and try it on at home and hate it, some places will refund your money within a week if you have your receipt. Just ask the associates before you check out for their refund policy. Now there are no excuses why not to try something new! =)

Be bold and try out a few of these fun trends. The nice thing about beauty is that if you feel beautiful, then you’ll look beautiful. Wear your beauty with confidence and strut your stuff!

Thanks Jo!  Now go to my Facebook page and let me know what trend you are going to try this year.  Bushy brows, check.  I think I will be sporting some sassy nails.
